This is a ceramic tile–with fully fired color underglazes–that looks like a watercolor painting on handmade paper.
Ceramic Paper Clay tiles are made from a mixture of paper pulp and clay slip formed into 1/8" thick tiles. As they are being fired in an electric kiln, the paper pulp burns out, resulting in a ceramic tile that has the surface texture of handmade watercolor paper. Hand formulated underglazes are applied to the surface to mimic the effect of watercolor on paper, the tiles are then refired. The colors are permanent and color fast.
*THIS TILE IS CURRENTLY ON DISPLAY AT WHITE BIRD GALLERY IN CANNON BEACH OREGON
