Inspired by the rugged northern Washington coastline, "Whale Watching" is an evocative exploration of the edges where humans and nature interact. Using unique Red Step Studio hand formulated underglazes, the images and colors are "painted" onto terracotta tiles with brushes, paint rollers and expired credit cards. Texture is created from found industrial patterned metal scraps and handcarved stamps. The surface has a matte, rough textured finish.
This artwork is composed of two tiles, the finished tile art measures 4"W x 6"H and is permanently mounted in a black wooden floater frame. Finished framed piece measures 5.5"W x 7.5"H x 1.375"D and comes ready to hang with picture hanging hardware attached.
